Installation Guide
Installing Delaco Panels is simple, thanks to their lightweight and semi rigid structure. Panels can be bonded directly to the wall using a strong grab adhesive such as Liquid Nails or fixed with screws through the felt backing. Please refer to our full Installation Guide for more details.
What You Will Need
Tape measure
Fine toothed hand saw or circular saw
Sharp utility knife
Liquid Nails or similar adhesive
Screws 30 to 32 mm
Screwdriver or drill
Masking tape and pencil
Stud finder
Plasterboard anchors if required
Safety glasses and mask
Staple gun and staples if trimming felt
Installation With Adhesive
Panels can be fixed directly to plasterboard, timber or most smooth surfaces.
Apply a strong grab adhesive to the felt backing in three wavy lines along the length of the panel.
One tube of adhesive will usually cover three panels.
Position the panel on the wall and press firmly.
Repeat for each panel, ensuring the slats align correctly.
Installation With Screws
Use screws for added hold or when fixing into studs or battens.
Use 15 screws per panel.
If fixing to studs, use wood screws into the stud through the felt.
If fixing to plasterboard, pre drill and use plasterboard screws or plugs.
Apply adhesive first, press the panel into place, then secure with screws.
Cutting the Panels
Horizontal cuts
Add masking tape to the front of the panel.
Mark a straight line using a square tool.
Cut with a fine toothed hand saw or circular saw.
Vertical cuts
Slice the felt backing carefully using a sharp utility knife.
Important Step for Light Coloured Felts
This applies only to panels with white or beige felt.
Apply tape to the middle of each slat before cutting.
Make your cut, then remove the tape for a clean finish.
Panels with darker felts do not require this preparation.
Installing Into Brick or Concrete
Pre drill holes through the panel.
Insert wall plugs into the drilled holes.
Screw through the felt into the plugs.
Alternatively, fix timber battens to the wall and screw the panels into the battens.
Maximum Acoustic Performance
For Class A acoustic performance:
Use 45 mm deep battens
Place mineral wool between battens
Screw panels into the battens
This method increases sound absorption significantly.
Installation Styles
1. Stacking the Panels
Panels can be stacked vertically for a tall and seamless wall.
2. Spacing Gap
Leave a 1.5 mm to 3 mm gap between panels for a modern feature.
3. Horizontal Slat Break
Add a timber slat horizontally to break up the wall and create a custom design.
Maintenance and Cleaning
Light dusting will prevent build up.
Use a slightly damp microfibre cloth if required.
Do not use chemicals.
Cutting outdoors is recommended to avoid black MDF dust indoors.
